Straight out of college, Nathan Krahn is one of Radford’s newest teachers this year.

He is a resource teacher to the English department, teaching sophomore and junior English.

Krahn said he initially wanted to be a doctor, but he was inspired to be a teacher because of his sister.

“I have a sister who has special needs,” he said.

He said that his family was very supportive of his decision to pursue a career in education because they thought it was a noble profession.

Krahn is a transplant from Washington who shares the same distinction as most of the students at the school.

“I am an Air Force child, so I have lived in various places,” he said.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Chaminade, and his post-baccalaureate certificate in Special Education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

He’s been at Radford for a short time, but quickly noted the school’s culture.

“I like the friendly culture at Radford,” he said. “Students and staff alike are very friendly and respectful.”

During his free time, Krahn said that he likes to playing video games, Zumba dancing, and singing.
