Held during a 45-minute extended lunch bell on Nov. 26, the Turkey Trot was a triathlon challenge between teams of all four grade levels. It began with laps around the track, continued with a potato sack race, and finished with its namesake— a game of tossing circular mats onto the ground to get to the finish line. In the end, the seniors managed to get all of their teammates across the line first by taking home a win and a hefty count of spirit points.

When asked what stood out to her during event planning, Social Media Manager Felorita Tasugasa said, “Ending my year knowing that I participated in a lot of school things, because I know as a freshman I wasn’t participating a lot, but now that I’m organizing this event as a senior. It makes me proud of what I’m leaving at Radford.”

Crowds of students from all grade levels were seen conversing near the final course as they cheered on their classmates and encouraged each other during the competition. The goal of school spirit was clearly achieved with flying colors.

“We try to host events every single month,” said Stuco President Seagull Kabua. “The underclassmen made sure to push it out. They had all the games ready, they talked to the leadership of each grade level.”

By all accounts, the Turkey Trot event was a success. It created a sense of school spirit in the air for its entire runtime, and Radford will be looking forward to both the next Turkey Trot and the next event held this year.
