While the road to the state playoffs proved to be anything but easy for Radford’s Lady Rams Varsity basketball team, they finished their regular season with a record 6-4.

With this record under their belts, the Rams started their road to the OIA championships with their first game against Kaiser Cougars.

Rams fought against the Cougars, but the Cougars wouldn’t let the Rams win so easily. In the fourth quarter, the teams were tied with 22 seconds left. To prevent the game from going into overtime, junior Jasmine Moody made a cut towards the basket. Moody made the layup but was fouled, so she hit the free throw which put the Rams up 38-36 to win the game.

With this win the Rams advanced into the OIA playoffs to play the number one seeded Mililani Trojans.

Rams had played the Trojans twice before, once in preseason and the other during the regular season; both games resulted in losses for the Rams, yet the girls knew that they had a shot at winning. In the second half of the game, the Rams came out with fire in their hearts, scoring as much they could. Unfortunately, for the Rams, their efforts were not enough and they were defeated by the Trojans.

Luckily, the Rams had a chance to get it back and play for the fifth seed in the state tournament, Leilehua Mules.

Rams came together as a team to play against Leilehua, but the Mules came back to tie the game in the last seconds of the fourth quarter sending the game into overtime. Although the Rams seemed to have the game, the Mules came back to win.

Even though the Rams lost against the Mules, they were still in the state tournament.

The first round of the state tournament called for the Rams to play the Mililani Trojans for the fourth time in the 2013-2014 season. Rams prepared for the Trojans all week in practice and were ready for the challenge.

The game took place at Moanalua in a win-or-go-home situation. Rams came out with the confidence they needed staying within 8 going into halftime. Although the Rams kept close with the Trojans beginning the second half of the game, the Trojans pulled away with the lead.

Second year varsity team member, Jazmyn Peralta, sophomore, said, "I feel like it was a tough season but we accomplished a lot because of how far we made it. We all stayed together as a team through the hard times and that's what's going to carry on and help us in next years season."
