Everyone loves a good scare. Whether it’s a trilogy, sequel or prequel, horror movies fit big in the top-liked movie genres. Horror movies are in fact well loved, and a majority of upcoming 2023 horror movies grab the interest of many students around Radford High. 

Don’t go alone. Serious scares lie ahead in these top three horror movies to watch this Halloween.

1. Five Nights at Freddy’s 

Release Date : October 27th 2023

If you’ve been living under a rock shaped like a slice of pizza, the beloved Five Nights at Freddy’s in its original form was a survival horror game where you are faced with the job of overnight security at a popular pizza parlor. The only problem is that the seemingly innocent animatronics in place as children’s entertainment are actually murderous monsters, and you’ll have to keep an eye out for them across various security monitors. There have been multiple versions of the game over the years, complete with many layers of lore, but original game creator Scott Cawthorne has worked on the movie screenplay alongside “The Wind” director Emma Tammi. With the animatronics built by none other than Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, Nobody wants to actually face these animatronics alone.

2. The Nun 2

Release Date : September 8th 2023

It’s been five years since the events of the first film’s terror and after a priest is murdered, Sister Irlene is once again facing the evil terrors of being an investigator face to face with the power of evil. Uncovering the town’s darkest secrets Sister Irlene is determined to find Valak, the demonic nun. 

3. The Exorcist: Believer 

Release Date : October 6, 2023

Ever been possessed by an evil entity? Unless your name is Angela or Katherine, I’m aware that you have not. These two best friends lean into their curiosity by playing evil games that unleash a chain of evil events causing the girls to not only become victims of the evil presence amongst them but knowingly forces them to believe the evil entities. This forces the beloved character, Angela’s father to confront the nadir of evil. Terrified and desperately in need of help, he seeks the only person who has ever confronted evil like this before, Chris.
