Restaurant Review: Shokudo Offers Fun Spin on Traditional Japanese Fare

If you’re looking for a new place to dine that offers a fun, hip atmosphere, Shokudo is somewhere you should try.

Shokudo Japanese Restaurant and Bar is located at the Ala Moana Pacific Center, down Kapiolani Blvd. They offer traditional Japanese foods such as udon, ishiyaki, and sashimi. There are also local items like chicken katsu, and pork gyoza in addition to other menu choices that would suffice even the pickiest palate.

Shokudo’s style of dining offers many small dishes for a small price. Ordering a few pupus, and a couple of items from the sushi or tempura bar is highly recommended. Don’t be afraid to try menu items that you’ve never had before. Remember, if you don’t like it, you can always order something else. Don’t forget to try their desserts. They offer an amazing honey toast that comes with ice cream and whatever toppings you choose.

There are a few dining areas to choose from. The tiered dining area, main dining area, and bar all offer a spectacular view of the entire restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is very classy and suave. It’s a great place to host your next  birthday or graduation dinner.

Shokudo stays open late, so you could stop there on the way from your 9 o’clock movie at the Ward Theater, or after a shopping spree at the Ala Moana Center.
