“Spider-Man 2,” released in late October 2023, is the third installment in the Spider-Man series developed by Insomniac Games. Released five years after Spider-man (2018) and two years after Spider-man: Miles Morales (2021), this game combines Peter’s and Miles’ stories.

Before I get your hopes up,  know this game is currently only available on PlayStation 5. With a main story length of 17-18 hours, “Spider-Man 2” is seen as a short game by modern standards. Alongside the main story, there are 18 side missions and various other encounters to stumble upon in the open-world exploration. It is a single-player game that allows you to swing and explore all around the tri-state area. Players have the ability to switch between both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, with multiple customization options on appearance and gameplay. During the main story, players will encounter a variety of villains ripped straight from the comics like, the Lizard, Venom, and Kraven the Hunter.

“Spider-Man 2” made a lot of improvement from the previous 2 installments in the series. My favorite feature in the game is the ability to allow you to play as Miles or Peter and how both have individual side stories and missions. This feature makes the story a unique experience and makes the user play as both spidermen, eliminating favorites. The customization is also one of the best parts added to the game, multiple suit options were in both of the previous games but in “Spider-Man 2” there are new suits with four different color combinations per suit.

“Spider-Man 2” is rated an 8/10 on IGN and a 9/10 on OpenCritic. I personally enjoyed this game and would say it’s a solid 5/5 rams. If anyone would ask if they should buy it, I’d say yes, it’s a fun game to play casually during your free time.
