Held on Wednesday, August 20, Radford High School’s annual Club Rush event offers students opportunities to discover the wide range of clubs available on campus.
Some clubs that students may already know about include the Samoan Club, Gaming/Anime Club, KPOP club, Fil-Am Club, National Honors Society (NHS), Drama Club, Spanish Club, HOSA, and Legacy Club.
Adrian Santiago Torres, a sophomore and member of HOSA, said, “I joined HOSA last year as a freshman, and it’s been great. It’s helped me learn about health careers and connect with others who have similar interests. I’m excited to keep learning and growing with the club.”
This year, new clubs have joined the lineup. The Hawaiian Club celebrates Hawaiian culture and traditions. The Micronesian Club welcomes all students to represent the islands of Micronesia.
Jada-Lianna Calaro, a V.P. trainee for PAAC (Pacific Asian Affairs Council), said, “I’m excited to learn about global issues and help support PAAC’s mission. I want to contribute by bringing more awareness to our community and encouraging others to think globally.”
PAAC, a new club focused on developing global citizens for Hawai‘i, encourages students to think about worldwide issues and learn about different cultures. The club’s catchphrase, “Thinking Globally,” inspires students to connect with the world beyond their local community.
Durell Jacobs, a first-year member of the Spanish Club, said, “I’m really enjoying being part of the Spanish Club. I’m looking forward to learning more about Spain and its culture this year.”
With so many opportunities available, students can find a club that fits their passions and begin their journey toward personal growth during their high school years.
