Not all educators work in a traditional classroom setting. Ms. Tayja, a 2020 Radford High School graduate, has returned to her alma mater and now works in the College and Career Research Center (CCRC), located in Room 131, where she helps students plan their paths after high school.
“I’m not a typical in-class teacher,” she said. “I work here in the CCRC, helping plan events and workshops like college fairs, visits, and ASVAB testing to guide students toward their post-high school goals.”
A few ways that she helps our students are by coordinating the Project Aries College Fair, organizing college visits throughout the school year, and assisting students interested in the military with ASVAB testing. The main goal of her job is to help students plan their future and guide them toward where they want to be.
“I graduated from Radford back in 2020, and I officially came back last August to complete my internship for my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies,” Ms. Tayja said. “I wanted to learn more about program coordination, and I thought I could learn efficiently and effectively under Mrs. Kau’s mentorship.”
Through her work in the CCRC, Ms. Tayja makes an impact on students by guiding them in their post–high school college and career goals. Her dedication ensures that students have the tools they need to succeed.
