English newcomer Vashelle Nino is a fresh face to Radford’s faculty as she takes on sophomore and senior grade English this year.

While this is only her first year as a Ram, she said that she already loves it at the school.

A Hawaii resident for one year, she said she “loves it but sometimes feels homesick” for Texas.

Before pursuing a career in education, Nino was a hairstylist for two years. An alumna of  Texas A & M, she chose to teach English for her love of literature and to follow her high school dream to be a teacher.

In her free time she likes to read, write, and hike. Her favorite books are of American literature, supernatural, and classical genre. Nino’s favorite authors are Dean Koontz and James Herbert.

Nino loves to spend time with her husband and two daughters, ages 11 and 8.
