We will be having a special exam schedule for the week of Sept. 24. In order to implement this schedule, a waiver for instructional minutes was approved by the Hawaii State Board of Education. This waiver was submitted to the Board of Education on behalf of the Radford School Community Council who also recommended approval of the waiver. Many high schools in Hawaii (e.g., Moanalua, Leilehua, Aiea) have some form of a special exam schedule.

The reason for this special exam schedule is to facilitate changes in student schedules prior to the start of the new quarter or semester. The student information system that the school is required to use does not allow changes in student schedules until after all final grades have been inputted. This exam schedule provides early release for students to allow time for teachers to correct and grade exams that will facilitate the submission of grades at the end of the week. This would allow the registrar to input changes in student schedules prior to the start of the new quarter or semester. Another benefit resulting from the special exam schedule is that parents and guardians will receive grades earlier than previous years.

Students should not take more than two exams per day. Therefore, due to the odd number of periods, Thursday, September 27 has only one exam. On Friday, Sept. 28, exam make up day will occur and students can expect bus service to school but due to the varied times required for student to make up exams, there will be no bus service to return them home. Parents and guardians will need to make arrangement to pick up their child from school. Students who do not have any exams to make up on Friday are not to attend school that day.
