With prom coming up, people are starting to look for creative ways to ask their potential dates. While some stick with a simple request, others strive to go above and beyond to get that hopeful affirmative.

Junior Lauren Meador describes how she was asked to prom when she returned from a trip. “I was driving home and when we pulled in, he was there waiting for me with roses,” she said. “It made me feel like I was very important to him, and I think that goes for girls in general.” Her driveway was covered in a giant prom invitation drawn neatly in chalk.

Junior Fall Paris* said, “I would be swayed more towards saying yes if I was asked in a cute, weird, or different way.” She explains how being asked in a creative way makes the invitation more memorable.

Junior Sean Lynch described how he asked his girlfriend to prom in a creative way.

“We went and walked down the beach at sunset and my friends had helped spell prom out of candles in the sand. I was trying to think of a way to ask and my friends and I came up with the idea,” he said.

While it may take more effort, show your date that you genuinely care about him/her. And, who would dream of saying no to a  funny and cute invitation?

If you have a talent or something you love to do such as art, dancing, sports; find some way to turn that activity into a creative ask. Or if you know there is something the person you’re asking loves, take that extra step and  maybe he/she will say yes.
