Mutini, Jackson Place in BIG Poetry Contest

In observation of Black History Month, the Pacific Ocean chapter of Blacks In Government held its annual “Poets from the Past” poetry contest.  The contest was in recognition of the contributions of African Americans poets.

Held on Feb. 20, 2012, contestants were presented poems from African American poets. Ms. Lillie Britt and Mr. Jay Galbreath served as judges.

Taking first and second place, respectively, were Rams Nikolao Mutini and Jamaree Jackson.  The third place winner was Theron Britt, a student at Campbell High School.

Winners were presented with prizes by last year ‘s winner, Daysha Jones, and BIG’s Life Time member, Thomas Sims. Each winner received cash, a certificate, and a book bag.
